Rumors that Broadcom, TI plans to raise chip prices

A few days ago the market rumors that Intel, Qualcomm and Marvell have notified customers of plans to increase prices, and now according to industry sources, Broadcom and Texas Instruments have also raised the price of electronic chips.


According to the Taiwan media "Electronic Times" reported that the sources said that the supply of wireless network electronic chips continue to be lower than the demand for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 devices, Broadcom has informed customers that since January 2023 the price of its network communication electronic chips will increase by 6% to 8%.

TI has informed customers that the price of specific ICs, such as server electronics ICs, will increase by about 10% in the third quarter of 2022. 

NOR Flash prices to fall 10-15% in Q3, sources say

NOR Flash prices will drop 10-15% in Q3 2022 as suppliers in mainland China expand production and offer more competitive prices, industry sources said.


According to Taiwan's Electronic Times, the source pointed out that NOR Flash prices, which have continued to rise since the second half of 2020, stopped rising in the second quarter of 2022 and began a downward trend in the third quarter, and prices of 512Mb, 1Gb, and 2Gb high-density NOR Flash, which were relatively stable in the first half of the year, will also fall.


Market research firm IC Insights previously released a report showing that NOR Flash accounted for only 4% of the overall flash memory market in 2021, but sales of NOR Flash products soared 63% to $2.9 billion, NOR Flash shipments grew 33%, and the average selling price rose 23%, and the NOR Flash market is expected to grow another 21% in 2022 to $3.5 billion.
